Tuk driver sprayed heavy perfume and lit incense — polite ask to stop or hop out for the headache?
Short Kandy hop. Driver sprayed a strong perfume and lit a little incense stick clipped near the dash. Within minutes I had a tight headache and watery eyes. Partner whispered to endure it for ten minutes. I wanted out. Is it rude to ask them to put the scent out and open the sides, or do people just exit and take the next tuk without a speech?

It is not rude to ask. Say the smell is giving you a headache and ask to stop the spray and open the sides — most drivers will. Fresheners are for them and for some passengers; they are not a rule you must suffer. If they refuse or laugh it off, pay for the distance so far if you agreed a fare, step out, and take another ride. I will not invent a standard incense tip. Your head matters more than finishing one fragrant hop.
Polite ask, open sides, no more spray. Driver nodded. Headache eased before the next junction.
Hopped out after one more bend when the incense stayed lit. Next tuk was scent-free. Worth it.
Will ask once, then switch if needed. Not enduring a migraine for politeness theater.
