Two guys, one room, Galle then A-Bay - do we need to hide?
Married at home, not looking to make a statement, just do not want a problem at check-in or on the beach. What is the 2026 situation, legally and socially?

Same-sex relations are still under old colonial law. Active prosecution of foreign tourists is rarely reported, but the law is there. Public affection (any couple honestly) is better kept low-key outside beach-party strips. Book one room. Tourist guesthouses in Galle Fort, A-Bay, Colombo are used to it. Do not do activism on a tourist stamp. If a listing feels conservative-family, message first.
We stayed in Fort and A-Bay, one bed, zero comments. Held hands on the A-Bay sand at sunset, not on Kandy temple steps.
Scam Watch: galle
Someone befriends you and offers a "once in a lifetime" opportunity to buy gems at wholesale prices and resell them abroad for huge profit. They may show you fake export certificates. The gems are worthless glass or low-quality stones.
Restaurants without visible prices. Bill arrives with inflated charges (500 LKR coconut becomes 1500 LKR). "Service charges" added without disclosure.
