Unawatuna bay yellow pole this morning with leftover SW — pull the toddler out or is the bay just being conservative — last night of a south-and-hill week

Yellow flag on the main posts, leftover swell from the last few days. Kid already in the shallows. Beach bar says the flag is only for insurance. I want a local, not a cocktail. 20 Aug, not trying to invent a bulletin.

Yellow means pay attention, not a brochure. Leftover SW chop on this bay is ordinary in August. Shallows with a toddler can still dump a kid. Stay where you can stand, no inflatables past the first break. The bar does not write the flags. I will not invent a marine Amber as a 20 Aug fact. If it goes red, you are out.

We kept the kid knee-deep and sat. Fine. The bar wanted a second round more than a safe bay.

Locals swim inside the flags. Pride argues with a pole and then buys a plaster.
