Want a quiet Sunday night after hill country. Is an Unawatuna swim-and-sleep base calmer than staying on the Galle Fort walls, or do beach lanes stay loud later than the Fort streets.

Unawatuna wins for a swim and an early sleep if you pick a lane back from the main strip. Fort walls are atmospheric but more foot traffic at dusk.

Fort is quieter after dinner once tour groups leave. Choose by whether you need water in the morning or stone lanes at sunset.
