Yellow on the main posts, leftover south-west. Kid already knee-deep. Beach bar says the flag is only insurance. 31 Aug, not trying to quote an official colour as gospel. Want a local, not a cocktail.

Yellow means pay attention. Leftover SW chop on this bay is ordinary in August. Shallows can still dump a toddler. Stay where you can stand, no inflatables past the first break. The bar does not write flags. If it goes red, you are out. Bay is open. Nobody closed Unawatuna.

We sat. Kid built a drip castle. Fine. The bar wanted a second round more than a safe bay.

Locals swim inside the posts. Pride argues with a pole and buys a plaster.

East is kinder this month if you actually want a swim day. This coast is leftover monsoon, not a drama.
