Unawatuna yellow flag this morning with leftover SW chop — pull the toddler out or is the bay just being conservative

Yellow flag on the main Unawatuna posts, leftover swell from the last few days. Kid already in the shallows. Beach bar says the flag is only for insurance. I want a local, not a cocktail.

Yellow means pay attention, not a brochure. Leftover SW chop on this bay is ordinary in August. Shallows with a toddler can still dump a kid. Stay where you can stand, no inflatables past the first break. The bar does not write the flags. If it goes red, you are out. Nobody here is quoting an official warning colour. It is just the sea.

We kept the kid knee-deep and sat. Fine. The bar wanted a second round more than a safe bay.

Locals swim inside the flags. Pride argues with a pole and then buys a plaster.
