Prefer walking up toward Bahirawakanda from a city hotel instead of a tuk. Realistic mid-morning with kids, or too steep and hot. Not tuk-up-and-back before lunch, and not lake swan boats.

The walk up is steep and exposed in places — doable for fit adults mid-morning, harder with small kids. Carry water and be ready to hail a tuk downhill if heat wins.

Shade breaks every ten minutes keep kids from melting.
