The absolute centerpiece of the Avurudu table is Kiribath which is rich creamy milk rice cut into beautiful diamond shapes. It is the very first food eaten during the auspicious time.

For sweets you must try Kavum a deep fried oil cake sweetened with kithul treacle and Kokis a highly crispy savory snack shaped like a star or flower using a special mold.

Another massive favorite is Mung Kavum which are sweet diamond shaped treats made from green gram flour and jaggery heavily fried until golden. Every hotel will feature a massive table covered in these treats during April.
