To completely avoid the massive tour bus crowds, rent a bicycle and head towards the Western Monasteries complex, known as Tapovana. These ancient meditation ruins are located deep in the peaceful forest on the western edge of the archaeological park. They are incredibly serene, completely devoid of large tour groups, and feature fascinating, unadorned stone architecture built explicitly for ascetic monks.
