Avurudu is famous for Kotta Pora which is pillow fighting on a grease pole, and Lissana Gaha which is climbing a greasy pole. You will also see many people playing Raban and the game of Kana Mutti where you break a clay pot while blindfolded. Locals love when tourists join in, especially for the tug of war or the lime and spoon races. It is a fantastic way to bond with the community during the festivities.

Be careful with Kotta Pora as it can be quite competitive and slippery. If you are participating, wear clothes you do not mind getting a bit of grease on. The atmosphere is generally very friendly and full of laughter.
