Yes, the dress code for Hindu temples in Sri Lanka is very strict. Both men and women must wear clothing that completely covers their shoulders and extends past their knees. In many northern and eastern Kovils, men are additionally required to remove their shirts entirely and enter bare chested as a sign of deep humility. You must also leave your shoes outside the entrance.
