The dress code at Gangaramaya Temple is strict, just like any Buddhist shrine in Sri Lanka. Both men and women must wear clothing that completely covers their shoulders and extends past their knees.

You are not required to wear pure white, though it is considered highly respectful. Sleeveless tops, tank tops, and shorts are absolutely forbidden on the temple grounds.

You must also remove your shoes and hats before entering. Bringing a pair of socks is a great idea, as the stone floors get very hot in the sun and can be uncomfortable to walk on barefoot.
