The dress code for Kelaniya Temple is very strict. Both men and women must wear clothing that completely covers their shoulders and extends past their knees. Tank tops and shorts are forbidden.

You must also remove your shoes and hats before stepping onto the sandy temple courtyard. The sand gets incredibly hot by midday, so bringing a pair of thick socks to wear is a smart move.
