Do travelers treat these forwards as noise until the hotel or police confirm, or do people actually stay off the roads after dark when the group chats light up?

Treat a forwarded photo as a rumor until you hear the same thing from two independent sources you trust — your hotel desk calling the local police post, a reputable news push, or staff who just came back from the street. Random group chats invent urgency. If the desk has heard nothing and taxis are still moving, keep a nearby dinner plan and leave early; if police are actually stopping traffic on your corridor, stay in without arguing with a rumor. I will not invent an official curfew fine for tourists. Ask the desk to call, not the chat to decide.
