Either two-way road works. Send the one closer to your hotel side. Both stay usable while the inner grid stays occupied.

If WhatsApp is slow, a voice note with the junction name. A dropped live pin in the crush helps no one.

We used Old Peradeniya because that was our hotel side. Twenty quiet minutes on the outer pavement.
