I desperately want to eat fresh Rambutan and Mangosteen. Will they be available at roadside stalls in January?

Unfortunately, no. The main season for Rambutan and Mangosteen is from May to August (peaking in July). In January, you will mostly find Papaya, Pineapple, Wood Apple, and endless varieties of Bananas.

I was there in July and the roads towards Kandy were lined with bright red Rambutan stalls. Sad you will miss it, but the baby bananas in January are still incredible.
