Where should we park a daypack at our feet so it is not kicked into the lane when the whip-crackers pass. Not camera-bag security and not a generic bags question.

Keep the pack between your feet, slightly behind the front edge of the curb, and be ready to lift when the whip-crackers or dancers need the lane. A pack sticking into the active edge gets kicked or moved by police.

If you stand near the whip-cracker section, hold the pack up for those minutes — do not leave it on the ground.
