Where to respectfully observe traditional fishing methods (stilt, outrigger, etc.)?
I find traditional fishing fascinating. Where can I watch it without it feeling staged or intrusive?

Early morning on many beaches (especially east coast and south of Weligama) you can still see traditional outrigger canoes (oruvas) and some stilt fishermen working. Go very early (before 6am) and observe from a distance without interfering. Some fishing villages welcome respectful visitors who buy fresh fish directly. Avoid the classic 'stilt fisherman' spots that are clearly set up for photos during daylight hours.
Talking to fishermen early in the morning (with a local who can translate) can be interesting if done respectfully. Many are happy to explain their methods if you're genuinely interested.
