I am interested in the history of the steamships that went down in the southern waters. Is the Earl of Shaftesbury wreck still diveable.

The Earl of Shaftesbury is a classic dive in Hikkaduwa. It was an iron sailing ship that sank in 1893. The wreck is scattered across the seafloor at about 15 meters depth. It is highly accessible for Open Water divers. You can still see the masts and parts of the hull which have now become an artificial reef for tropical fish.
