We want to visit the ancient Sithulpawwa Rock Temple, which I read is located directly inside Yala National Park. Do we need to pay the national park safari fee to visit the temple.

You do not need to pay the expensive Yala National Park safari fee to visit Sithulpawwa. There is a designated public road that cuts through the park to the temple. However, you are driving through raw wilderness. It is very common to see wild elephants, leopards, and sloth bears crossing the temple road. You must not exit your vehicle under any circumstances until you reach the safety of the temple car park.

The wild boars actually sleep right on the sand in the temple courtyard. Do not carry any fruit or sweet snacks openly, the wildlife there is completely unafraid of humans.
