Will tuk-tuk fares drop after the petrol cut, or is the meter still the same?
Octane 92 just dropped 15 rupees. We are using tuks around Colombo this week. Should the meter or the agreed fare actually come down, or do drivers keep charging the old rate?

No drop. The three-wheeler drivers association said they will not revise fares despite the 15-rupee 92 cut. Existing official rate stays Rs. 110 for the first kilometre and Rs. 90 for each extra kilometre until a legally approved revision. L. Rohana Perera, their general secretary, was explicit: operators keep the current fares. The petrol cut is at the pump, not on your tuk ride today.
Two Negombo drivers this morning both shrugged at the petrol news. Same quote as yesterday. Nobody offered a cheaper hop.
Agree the number before you sit. Until a legal revision lands, assume 110/90 and do not budget a discount.
