Workation week between Ahangama and Weligama cafes — is the wifi actually usable for video calls?
Need about two hours of stable calls a day, nothing cinematic. Laptop, hotspot SIM as backup. Friends say cafe wifi is fine for Instagram and dies on Zoom. Is September rainy-season wifi on that strip still a gamble, and which habit actually works — early cafe seats, coworking day pass, or just tether?

Cafe wifi on the Ahangama–Weligama strip is usually fine for mail and chat; video calls are hit-or-miss, especially when rain knocks power or everyone streams after lunch. Practical habit: test the connection with a short call before your real meeting, sit closer to the router if staff allow, and keep a mobile hotspot ready on a local SIM. Morning seats are quieter and more stable than sunset crowds. A coworking day pass helps if you have critical client calls. I will not name a magic cafe as gospel — ask today's password speed, not yesterday's review. Power banks matter when inverters kick in.
Mornings worked on cafe wifi; one stormy afternoon only hotspot saved the standup. Dual plan from day one.
Testing three cafes tomorrow morning with a five-minute Meet before client calls. Hotspot packed.
Also screenshot the wifi password board — places rotate names and you waste ten minutes asking.
