Everyone says cash but I don't want to carry big amounts to a national park.

Card works at Yala main entrance (Palatupana gate) for foreigner ticket payment. Also at Wilpattu. National parks upgraded card payment in 2024. Still bring some cash as backup (system down happens). For 4 people, ticket is ~USD 100 total (25 each) - card is easier. Also cash for tips (driver, tracker if you hire one) - budget 3000-5000 LKR extra.

^ this. Also: your safari operator often includes park entry in their quote (bundled). Ask specifically - if included, you don't handle payment. If not, be ready with card + backup cash.
