Real breakdown for a half-day Yala safari: park entry USD 25 per foreign adult + LKR 1500 service fees per group + jeep hire USD 40-70 for group of up to 6 + optional tracker LKR 1500-3000. All in: about USD 45-70 per person if 4 sharing a jeep, more if solo. Full-day roughly double. Sunrise slot (5:30am pickup) has best wildlife activity. Package deals from hotels often mark up 30-50%.

Book direct with a Tissamaharama-based operator (Yala Safari Camp, Green Yala, Independent) instead of your hotel. Same jeep, same driver, 30% cheaper. Ask your hotel to arrange pickup at pre-dawn but do the safari booking separately.
