A jeep near Nilaveli is a dusty morning, not a zoo. Dawn is cooler. No leopard is promised. Book a park-side desk when you can — hotel posters often add shop loops. Water, hat, zero drone.

One dawn run was enough. Stacking afternoon + dawn just burned us out. If your day is tight with a train, skip rather than rush the gate.

If you're tired, stay nearer the bus stand / town centre in Nilaveli and skip chasing a perfect sunset. Pull cash in Colombo, Kandy, or Galle first — cards are a maybe. Locals will tell you if a ticket is counter-only.
