93,000 cases I already saw - but is Gampaha actually the problem and is Trinco / A-Bay in a different country

We land CMB tomorrow, one night Negombo (that is Gampaha district right?), then we were going to linger in Colombo with friends before the east. The national number is scary. The district table I found has Gampaha 19,825 and Trincomalee 670. Is that a real reason to skip the west or just spreadsheet brain.

The national number is real and ugly. It is also not evenly spread. Gampaha and Colombo are the pile. Kandy is not nothing (6,726). The east and north are an order of magnitude smaller. That does not mean zero mosquitoes in Nilaveli. It means a week in A-Bay is not the same risk as a week in a Gampaha garden with uncovered buckets. Negombo is Gampaha district - one airport night with repellent and long sleeves at dusk is not skip Sri Lanka. Lingering in leafy Colombo suburbs is the higher-exposure choice.

We did two nights Negombo, did not panic, used DEET at 5pm, no standing water on the balcony. Going east partly for weather, partly for this table.

Day-biting Aedes. Screening, lotion, dump the bucket under the guesthouse tap. Fever after day 4 = private hospital, not wait it out in the room.

I would not cancel the country over the district table. I would not sit on a verandah at dusk in a Colombo 15 garden for a week either.

One Negombo night, skip the Colombo linger, east after. Thanks.
