Adams Peak Sri Pada climb tomorrow night season closed
Pilgrim season ended at Vesak earlier this month Tea houses closed lights off chains unlit I am still tempted to do the climb solo tomorrow night I am fit and have a headtorch What is the actual danger level out of season and can I find a local guide last minute in Dalhousie tonight

Out of season is genuinely riskier not just inconvenient Steps are slippery from monsoon mud leeches at lower sections summit temple locked teahouses shut no water resupply Solo at night is not recommended I would say hire a local guide from White Elephant Guesthouse or Slightly Chilled Lounge in Dalhousie they have guides on standby 4500 LKR per night Headtorch with backup batteries mandatory Layers for 4 degrees at summit Even if you skip sunrise (often misted in this season) the climb itself is meditative empty
Bring instant noodles tea bags and a thermos in season there are food stalls every km out of season there is nothing
Off season is the best time for photographers no crowds no neon lights pure starlight on the trail If sky is clear
If weather looks bad reschedule December next pilgrim season starts and you get the full atmospheric experience
