It is a genuine adventure. The breaks down near Panama and Okanda are world-class but very remote. The reef at Okanda is shallow and unforgiving; wear booties. Regarding wildlife, you are inside a National Park buffer zone. Wild elephants roam the dirt tracks, and crocodiles inhabit the lagoons directly behind the beaches. Never surf alone, never swim in the lagoons, and always drive back before sunset.

Also bring extra wax and a fin key. If you break gear, your surf trip is over for the day.

The drive itself through the sand dunes is beautiful though. You will see so many peacocks and deer.

We got a flat tire near Kumana and had to change it while a herd of elephants watched us from 100 meters away. Do not go without a spare.

No, absolutely nothing. You must bring all the drinking water and food you will need for the day.

We will pack heavy on water and first aid kits. Thanks for the heads up.

There is zero cell service down there. If you hit the reef hard, you are on your own for basic first aid.
