Are the leeches in Sinharaja Forest really that bad?
I want to do a rainforest trek, but I am terrified of leeches. Are they unavoidable in Sinharaja?

Yes, they are unavoidable, especially if it has rained recently. But they are completely harmless. Your guide will provide you with "leech socks" (thick cotton bags that go over your pants and shoes) and will spray your shoes with a salt-water mixture. You will be fine.
I wore the leech socks and not a single one got on my skin. Just don't stand still in the wet leaf litter for too long!
Another trick is to rub Ayurvedic "Siddhalepa" balm on your ankles. They hate the smell of it and drop right off.
Okay, the leech socks make me feel a lot better. I will brave it. The biodiversity sounds too good to miss.
