I know the West Coast has Kosgoda, but we are only visiting the East Coast (Trincomalee/Arugam Bay). Are there any conservation projects there?

The East Coast doesn't have the commercialized "hatcheries" that the West Coast has. Instead, you have pure, wild nesting grounds. Panama Beach (south of Arugam Bay) is a major nesting site. If you walk the beach quietly at night, you might see them naturally.

Wild and natural is exactly what I prefer. I will snorkel at Swami Rock. Thank you!

The Department of Wildlife Conservation protects the beaches near Kumana. There are no tanks to pay to see them. Just natural wild turtles.

If you go snorkeling around Swami Rock in Trinco, you have a very high chance of swimming alongside massive wild sea turtles. Much better than seeing them in a concrete pool.
