Ella has developed rapidly. There are now several reliable ATMs right on the main street (BOC, Commercial Bank). However, power cuts or network issues can sometimes take them offline. It is always smart to carry at least 20,000 LKR as backup.

I had no problem withdrawing cash there last month. Commercial Bank usually allows the highest withdrawal limits (100,000 LKR per transaction).

A lot of the cafes and restaurants in Ella accept cards now anyway, so you don't need as much cash as you think.
