If you book a genuine local homestay slightly inland from the bay, they will absolutely serve you traditional breakfasts. Just request it the night before! They love making string hoppers (Idiyappam) with dhal and fresh coconut sambol. The fancy beachfront surf camps usually only serve avocado toast and smoothie bowls.
