Should I buy tea directly from the factories in Nuwara Eliya, or are supermarkets in Colombo better priced?

Buying from the estate factories (like Pedro or Damro) guarantees freshness, and the packaging makes great gifts, but you pay a premium. If you just want excellent loose-leaf tea for yourself, go to a "Mlesna" tea center or a Keells supermarket in Colombo—much cheaper for the same quality.

Mlesna is fantastic. But doing the factory tour and having a cup of BOPF overlooking the plantations is part of the magic, so I always buy at least one box there to support them.
