The Black Cat Cafe in Colombo 07 is a fantastic hidden gem. It is a beautifully restored colonial house offering incredibly fast wifi, exceptional artisanal coffee, and a very quiet, relaxed atmosphere perfect for remote workers.
If you need a more formal working environment, the Kopi Kade on Stratford Avenue offers an excellent, quiet minimalist space with plenty of power outlets specifically catering to digital nomads.
Cafe Kumbuk is another brilliant spot nearby. It focuses heavily on organic, locally sourced food and provides a lush, shaded outdoor garden seating area that feels miles away from the busy city traffic.

Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
