To escape the noisy main street, walk down towards the Ella Railway Station and take the quiet dirt paths winding up into the tea plantations. There are several small, hidden cafes there offering serene valley views.
Another fantastic quiet spot is the Secret Waterfall, also known as Pallewela Falls. It is a short tuk tuk ride away and is surrounded by dense jungle, making it a perfect place to read a book and swim peacefully.

People outside stations offer to "help" buy tickets but charge large markups. They may buy cheap third-class tickets and sell as more expensive classes.
