Best way to book a safari in Minneriya today!

We are in Habarana right now and want to see elephants this afternoon. Do we need to book a jeep online or can we just show up at the park gate. What is the standard price today.

You do not need to book online at all. In fact, booking online often costs more due to middleman fees. Just walk up to the main junction in Habarana town right now. There are dozens of licensed safari jeeps waiting there. A standard half day jeep should cost you around 8000 to 10000 LKR for the vehicle itself. You will pay your park entrance fee separately at the Minneriya gate ticket counter.

Head out around 2:30 PM. The elephants usually gather near the reservoir later in the afternoon when the heat drops. Ask your hotel receptionist to call a driver they trust if you do not want to negotiate on the street. It takes 5 minutes to arrange.
