We land at 11:30 PM. We booked our first few nights in Mount Lavinia. What is the safest and fairest priced transit option at midnight?

At that hour, take an official Airport Taxi from the desk inside the arrivals hall. It is a fixed rate (usually around 6000-7000 LKR to Mount Lavinia). Because there is no traffic at midnight, the drive down the coastal road will only take about 45 minutes.

Do NOT take a tuk-tuk for that distance at midnight after a long flight. It is a 40km journey and you will be miserable with your luggage. Get a proper AC car.

Official taxi desk it is. I am willing to pay a bit more for fixed-rate peace of mind.

You can try ordering a PickMe or Uber, but at midnight, drivers often accept the ride and then message you asking for double the price in cash. The official taxi desk avoids all that haggling.
