Can PickMe drivers enter the airport arrivals area?

I ordered a PickMe, but the driver is messaging me to walk outside to the main road. Are they not allowed inside?

PickMe and Uber drivers are allowed into the airport, but they have to pay a parking/entry fee. Many drivers don’t want to pay this, so they ask you to walk out to the main gate. You can tell them you will pay the 300 LKR parking fee in cash, and they will usually drive right up to the terminal.

Walking to the main road takes about 10 minutes. If you have light bags, it’s not bad, but if you have heavy luggage, definitely just offer to cover the entry toll for them.
