Can we dump bags at Colombo Fort for a day, and if the inbound is late do we rebook the Kandy van or sit in arrivals
Two problems from last week that I still want on the record. We wanted Fort / museum without dragging 20 kg - is there still a cloakroom. And when the Doha inbound was delayed, not a lost bag, just late, we had a van booked for a 1am Kandy run we already knew was dumb in Perahera week. Cancel the van and sleep west, or make him wait. Asking for the next person.

Fort station has long had a cloakroom / left-luggage - ask the station master / tourist window, keep the chit, do not store passports in the bag. Hours are station hours, not 24/7 magic; confirm when you arrive. Tonight: a delay is not a lost bag. File nothing, ride when you land. I would not send a van to Kandy at 2am on a Perahera Friday. Sleep Negombo / airport hotel, move at 8. Pay the driver a wait or a cancel, cheaper than a 4-hour night in roadblocks.
Cloakroom existed when we asked; small daily fee. We used it, did Pettah light, collected, trained nowhere because the hill line is still split.
Scam Watch: colombo
Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
