Is it safe to brush my teeth or drink the tap water in luxury hotels, or should I strictly rely on bottled water.

It is strongly advised not to drink tap water in Sri Lanka, even in five star luxury hotels. Always drink bottled or heavily filtered water. Using tap water to brush your teeth is generally safe for most travelers, but if you have a sensitive stomach, stick to bottled water.
