Can you walk from Colombo Fort to Gangaramaya Temple.

You can definitely walk from Colombo Fort to Gangaramaya Temple. It is a roughly two kilometer walk that takes about thirty minutes. Walking around the edge of Beira Lake as you approach the temple is quite scenic.
However, navigating the busy road crossings during the midday heat and heavy city smog can be exhausting. Taking a quick, five minute tuk tuk ride using the PickMe app is cheap and highly recommended to save your energy.

Driver claims the meter is broken and quotes an inflated flat rate. Common on arrival at airport or railway stations when tourists are tired and disoriented.
Drivers wearing official-looking uniforms claim to be "government-approved" and charge 3-5x normal rates. They may have fake badges or ID cards.
Women with babies approach asking you to buy milk powder at a nearby shop (not cash). The shop is run by accomplices and charges 5-10x normal price.
