Checking advisories before we fly 22 Aug. Canada/US still talk demonstrations, terrorism, landmines. Is anything actually kicking off in Colombo right now or is this boilerplate?

Day-to-day tourist Sri Lanka this month is temples, rain, and tuk-tuks, not barricades. Advisories stay cautious because of leftover terror-risk language, possible short-notice demos that can block a road, and mines in the north. Perahera week in Kandy is heavy police and road closures, not a protest. Follow local news the week you arrive. If a march is called, take a different street. Tourism hotline 1912. Register with your embassy if that is your habit.

No demo. Normal Colombo. Extra cops around the lake for Perahera, that is it.

Boilerplate plus the mine leftover plus "protests can happen". Not 2022 queues.
