If I only have time to explore one ancient city, which archeological site is better structured and easier to navigate on a rented bicycle?

Polonnaruwa is more compact and much better preserved, making it perfect for an easy half-day bicycle ride. Anuradhapura is massive, spread out, and still an active holy religious site, requiring a tuk-tuk to commute between distant ruins.

Polonnaruwa’s Gal Vihara (the giant rock-carved Buddha statues) is completely mind-blowing. Ride among the temple ruins and watch out for the monkeys!
