I want to climb the 5,000 steps of Adam's Peak for sunrise, but I read the season ends in May. Is it still possible in August?

It is physically possible, but highly unadvisable. Out of season (June-Nov), the path is completely unlit, all the tea shops and resting stalls are closed, the temple at the top is locked, and the mountain is subject to violent monsoon rain, high winds, and dense fog. You won't get a sunrise view.

Do Little Adam's Peak or Ella Rock instead in August! Don't risk the real Adam's Peak in the off-season. It is pitch black and full of leeches in the wet months.
