The fastest and most straightforward transport option from Colombo Airport to the city center is using a ride hailing app like PickMe or Uber. You can connect to the free airport Wi Fi, order a car, and they will pick you up right outside the arrivals terminal. The ride to Colombo takes about 40 minutes via the expressway and costs around 4000 to 5000 Sri Lankan Rupees. Alternatively, you can use the official airport taxi counter located inside the terminal which offers flat rates, though it is slightly more expensive than the apps.
If you are arriving during the day and want the cheapest possible option, there is a luxury air conditioned highway bus that runs from the airport bus stand to the Makumbura Multimodal Center in Colombo. It costs just a few hundred rupees and is very comfortable.
