I want to unplug and be more present. Any recommendations for mindful or low-tech travel?

Some retreats, eco-lodges, and guesthouses in quieter areas intentionally have limited or no WiFi, or encourage guests to disconnect. Hill country and some coastal spots away from main tourist hubs can feel more conducive to slowing down. Some people deliberately leave devices in their room or use airplane mode for parts of each day. Choosing accommodations with pleasant common areas, gardens, or views encourages spending time offline. Some travelers find that having a loose itinerary with built-in downtime rather than packed schedules supports a more mindful experience. The contrast between busy tourist areas and quieter places can be striking — many people find that spending time in nature or in smaller communities naturally reduces the urge to be constantly connected. Being intentional about when and how you use devices makes a big difference.

Some quieter lodges and retreats have limited connectivity by design. Choosing places with pleasant offline spaces and building in downtime helps. Intentional device use makes a big difference.
