Diyaluma Falls upper pools swimming safety and deadly drop offs

The pools further back from the edge are very safe and calm during the dry season. However, sitting on the lip of the main drop for an Instagram photo is suicidal. The rocks are covered in invisible, slick algae. One slip and there is nothing to stop you from falling 200 meters. Swim in the upper rock pools, but stay at least 15 feet away from the main cliff edge.

There is a natural rock slide into one of the upper pools that is super fun and completely safe.

Never swim there if the water looks brown or muddy. That means flash floods are coming from upstream.
