I brought a stack of $100 bills, but a few of them are the older series (pre-2006, smaller heads). Will money changers in Colombo accept them?

Most local money changers in Pettah or tourist areas will outright reject older US bills, or any bills with tears, ink marks, or severe folding. They only want crisp, new "big head" hundreds. The banks will take them, but the process takes much longer.

Try exchanging them at the official bank counters inside the airport arrivals hall. They are much more forgiving than the street corner exchange booths.
