Heading to Arugam Bay in July. I know the monsoon hits the south/west, but is the east coast 100% dry?

It is the dry season on the East Coast in July, but it is still a tropical island. You might get a 20-minute heavy thunderstorm in the late afternoon once a week, but the days are generally hot, sunny, and perfect for surfing.

I was in Trincomalee last July. Not a single drop of rain for 10 days. The ocean was as flat as a swimming pool.
