The Colombo National Museum is a massive, beautiful British colonial building. While a few of the newer exhibit rooms containing delicate artifacts have air conditioning, the vast majority of the museum relies entirely on open windows and ceiling fans for cooling.

Walking through the upper galleries during the intense midday heat can become incredibly hot and sweaty. It is highly recommended to visit right when they open at 9:00 AM to explore the galleries comfortably before the temperature peaks.
